A Classroom

PSAT Classes

We provide a crash course for students to refresh their skills and timing covering the following areas: the structure and predictable elements of the exam, direct instruction over core content, tips for attacking specific question types, and the all important timing of the exam, along with timed-practice over real PSAT and SAT test questions.

Our crash courses are now better equipped to prepare students for both the PSAT and the SAT, taking into account their adaptive nature.

Since we have been doing PSAT prep, we have guided many students to the National Merit Semifinalist status. As a result, the students were eligible for hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarship money.

About the PSAT/SAT

The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) and the SAT are both standardized tests administered by the College Board. They serve slightly different purposes but are essentially the same test now.

  • PSAT: The PSAT, also known as the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT), is primarily taken by high school juniors in the United States. It serves as a practice test for the SAT and also determines eligibility for National Merit Scholarships and other academic recognition programs.
  • SAT: The SAT is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. It measures students' readiness for college and is typically taken by high school juniors and seniors.

  • Both tests are digital and adaptive.
  • Both tests consist of sections in math and evidence-based reading and writing.
  • The SAT includes an optional essay section, while the PSAT does not.

  • Both the SAT and PSAT use a scale ranging from 400 to 1600 for the total score.
  • The PSAT scoring range was aligned with the SAT's, making the two scores directly comparable.

  • The PSAT is usually administered in October.
  • The SAT is offered multiple times throughout the year.

Use of scores

  • PSAT scores are not typically used directly in the college admissions process but can qualify students for scholarships and recognition programs.
  • SAT scores are widely used by colleges and universities as part of their admissions process.
